# What is minting an NFT?

> "Minting" an NFT is the process of creating a unique token on a blockchain that represents ownership of a digital asset. This can be anything from a piece of art to a video to a tweet. Once an NFT is minted, it is stored on the blockchain and cannot be edited or deleted.
